The Points Based System (PBS) was introduced between 2008 and 2010 and is a means of regulating immigration into the UK from outside the EEA. It comprises of a series of points and tiers and offers complex Guidance on how the requirements can be met. The PBS applies to both Employment and Education with students and workers requiring certain numbers of points. Points can be achieved in a variety of ways. Education and Employment providers need a Sponsor Licence in order to employ overseas workers or have overseas students within their establishment.
